Today, March 13th, is National Ear Muff Day! A day to celebrate the invention that keeps our ears warm and cozy during cold weather. Whether you prefer furry, fleece, or sporty ear muffs, it’s a perfect day to appreciate this winter essential. So, dig out your favorite pair and give your ears a warm hug! Did you know that ear muffs were invented by a 15 year old in 1873? That is a great invention for someone so young! (Source: NationalDayCalendar.com)

On March 13th, 1930, Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. For decades after, Pluto was considered the ninth planet in our solar system. This discovery was a major event in astronomy, capturing the imagination of people around the world. Although Pluto has since been reclassified as a dwarf planet, its discovery remains a fascinating chapter in the history of space exploration. And now for our Have YOU heard feature of the day! Today, March 13th, we’re diving headfirst into the wonderfully weird world of inventions. Did you know that someone once tried to patent a device that would automatically rock a baby’s cradle using the motion of a cat? Yes, a feline-powered lullaby machine! The idea was to harness the natural back-and-forth movement of a cat walking on a platform to gently rock a baby to sleep. While this particular invention might not have made it into nurseries, it certainly showcases the ingenuity (or perhaps, absurdity) of some inventors.
